The World’s Biggest Library

Traduzca’s blog recently showed you the world’s smallest library, but do you know which is the biggest? The grand champion is the Library of Congress in Washington D.C., USA,  whose collection contains more than 150 million items including books, manuscripts, newspapers, magazines, maps, videos and audio recordings.

It’s the official research library of the United States Congress and was founded in 1800, when the country’s federal headquarters were transferred from Philadelphia to Washington. The library is currently housed in the Thomas Jefferson Building, open to the public since 1897.
