Philosopher Peter Singer’s visit to Porto Alegre was assisted by Traduzca. The Australian is recognized as one of the most respected contemporary philosophers and has authored some 30 works, among them the book “Animal Liberation”. Peter Singer spoke about Ethics and Animal Rights, in the Legislative Assembly’s João Neves da Fontoura Hall.
Among the leading subjects broached by Singer, in English, his native tongue, was the death of approximately 100 million vertebrates per year in the name of research. In terms of food production, this number rises to 60 billion.
The event was attended by the mayor of Porto Alegre, Mr. José Fortunati and the first-lady, Regina Becker.
