Sworn Translation into French

There are six documents that have to be provided to the Luxembourg consulate to be able to obtain citizenship of the country. The descendant will need to be able to provide certificates for the Luxembourgish ancestor through each generation to the applicant.
• Original Birth Certificates (or Baptism Certificates);
• Original Marriage Certificates;
• Original Death Certificates;
• Original Negative Naturalization Certificate (a document issued by the Brazilian government that confirms that your Luxembourgish ancestor was not a naturalized Brazilian). To obtain the document, click here)
• An authenticated copy of the applicant’s Identity document: ID Card or Passport. A Driving License is not accepted as an Identity document.
• The original or an authenticated copy of a proof of address of the applicant. When the applicant does not have a proof of address in their own name, they must make a ‘déclaration de résidence’ (in French and attach the proof of address that the declaration refers to). The proof of address must be translated into French and legalized. In addition, if the application for citizenship is being made by a minor, a ‘déclaration de habite’ will also need to be drawn up. This declaration must be signed by both parents and their signatures must be notarized.
